Marble cleaning services are most commonly performed on honed or tumbled stones as these stones tend to hold more dirt within the surface than polished surfaces.  A honed or tumbled surface is a bit rougher and as a general rule of thumb will require more periodic cleaning than a polished marble or other polished natural stone.

On the other hand a polished marble or other polished natural stone may require polishing long before you will be concerned about any deep down professional cleaning.  Some limestone, travertine and marble surfaces can be quite soft within the stone world and may dull or suffer from micro abrasion.  The only way to recover the beautiful polish for these stones is to perform a marble polishing service.
